No se pierda la serie de sermones del mes de mayo que estará dirigida a las relaciones interpersonales. El mundo está lleno de dificultades y conflictos que muchas veces comienzan a un nivel individual– personal muy básico; es decir, la forma como los humanos se tratan unos a otros. Nuestra sociedad está llenas de violencia, malos entendidos, incomprensión, traumas, heridas emocionales, negligencia, abandono, soledad y desamor. El concepto de “familia” sigue deteriorándose y la felicidad está basada principalmente  en el aspecto material  y superficial, que va provocado un vacío afectivo y un hambre de comprensión verdaderos.  Como resultado, tenemos un mundo caótico que no teme a Dios y valora en poco la vida humana. Problemas con la pareja, con los hijos, en el trabajo y aun entre los miembros de la familia de la fe. Pero, no se asuste, cada uno de nosotros puede hacer una diferencia en el lugar en que nos movemos y habitamos. No se pierda esta serie de sermones titulada: Dios Pelea Tus Batallas. ¿Vive usted con temor? ¿Su conciencia no le deja dormir? ¿A que le teme? ¿Cuáles son sus terrores nocturnos? ¿Qué lo atormenta constantemente?

Los temores son algo que pueden interferir con nuestras relaciones sociales, el trabajo, la escuela y la vida familiar.

Sabía usted que:

–el 40% de lo que nos preocupa nunca sucederá

–el 30% de lo que tememos, ocurrió en el pasado y no tenemos control sobre ello.

–el 10% de las cosas que nos preocupan son consideradas insignificantes por los demás.

–el 12% de lo que nos preocupa tiene que ver con enfermedades que nunca ocurrirán

–Esto significa que el 92% de nuestros temores nunca se harán realidad.

No espere más para deshacerse de esos temores infundados. La Palabra del Señor nos dice: ‘Tú me has hecho sentirme más feliz que ellos en los momentos de las mejores cosechas. En completa paz me acuesto y me duermo, porque tú, SEÑOR, me haces vivir tranquilo.” (Salmos 4:7-8). Are you living in fear? Can’t sleep at night? What are you afraid of? What are your nocturnal horrors? What is tormenting you constantly?

Fears can severely disrupt your normal life, interfering with school, work, social relationships and family life.

Do not waste more time living in fear. Get rid of those nonsense terrors. God’s word said: “You have put gladness in my heart     more than when their grain and wine abound.8 I will both lay down and sleep in peace;    for you alone, O Lord, make me lie down in safety.” (Psalms 4:7-8 NSV) Come and join us this coming Sunday April, 7 to listen to our new sermon series: Living with Confidence in God. Primer Bautismo/First Baptism

Hace ya algún tiempo que habíamos perdido el sabor, la emoción y la bendición que se siente  al experimentar lo que es lograr el primer bautismo en un nuevo campo misionero. Este pasado domingo todas estas emociones regresaron a nosotros cuando “Marco” una persona que nos estuvo visitando por las pasadas tres semanas decidió entregar su vida al Señor. Pero estoy comenzado por el final de la historia. Volvamos al principio. Marco llegó a nosotros invitado por un familiar. Durante toda su vida, él no ha sido un religioso practicante. Más bien, se había mantenido a la orilla de las religiones, respetando y observando ligeramente las creencias de sus mayores.

Al llegar con nosotros, Marco recibió aceptación, amistad y un sentido de familia que hacía mucho tiempo no sentía. Casualmente, habíamos programado una serie informativa de dos sesiones durante el mes de enero dirigida a nuestros visitantes, para explicar nuestro propósito como iglesia, lo que implica ser cristiano, como recibir la salvación y como hacerse miembro del cuerpo de Cristo. Marco pidió participar en la segunda de ellas (este pasado domingo).

Durante la misma en algún momento, Jesús Rodríguez, quien estaba impartiendo la clase,  expuso el tema del bautismo, su significado, su importancia y la necesidad que tenemos todos de salvos. Marco alzó su mano y preguntó, ¿Cuándo podía hacerse esto? Jesús le contestó que podía llevarse a cabo en el momento que la  persona entienda que necesita hacerlo, sin importar la ocasión. Para nuestra sorpresa, Marco preguntó si podía ser posible interrumpir la lección por un rato y ser bautizado para el perdón de sus pecados. Ante la  contestación afirmativa de Jesús, Marco dijo y  parafraseamos: “Pues paremos la lección en este momento porque necesito ser bautizado. Yo he aprendido sobre Jesús y su sacrificio por mí en estas tres semana más que lo que sabía en toda mi vida anterior.  Quiero entregar mi vida al Señor.”

Como pueden imaginar nosotros detuvimos la clase en ese mismo momento y procedimos a bautizar a Marco. Omar Corpus realizó el bautismo junto a un grupo de 12 personas allí reunidas. ¡Que glorioso momento!

Este pasado domingo Marco nació de nuevo y junto a Norma, otra visitante que llevaba 10 años alejada del Señor;  quien fue reconciliada a través de la clase del seminario, nuestra pequeña congregación está siendo  consolidada y el Reino de Cristo sigue creciendo aquí en Arlington, Texas. ¡Alabado sea el Señor por Marco y Norma!

Y yendo por el camino, llegaron a cierta agua, y dijo el eunuco: Aquí hay agua; ¿qué impide que yo sea bautizado? Felipe dijo: Si crees de todo corazón, bien puedes. Y respondiendo, dijo: Creo que Jesucristo es el Hijo de Dios. Y mandó parar el carro; y descendieron ambos al agua, Felipe y el eunuco, y le bautizó. Hechos 8:36-38 RV

It has been a while since we last tasted all the flavor, excitement, and blessing contained in a first baptism during missionary work.  This last Sunday all those feelings came back to us when Marco, a third time visitor, asked us to help him to give his life to Jesus Christ.  But I just started with the end of the story. Let me go back a little. Marco came to us invited by a relative of him. He had never been a strong Christian, keeping himself at the margin of the religion of his parents.

With us he found a friendly welcome, acceptance, and a sense of family he hadn’t experienced for a while. Coincidentally, we were holding two sessions of a series of informative seminar for visitor explaining our purpose as a church: what it means to be a Christian, how to receive salvation, and how to be part of the body of Christ. Marco asked us to be part of the second session (this past Sunday).

During the seminar, Jesus Rodriguez, who was teaching the seminar, covered the subject of baptism, its meaning, relevance, and our need of a Savior. Marco raised his hand and asked when a baptism could be performed.  The answer was that it could be performed any time a person feels the need of doing it, no matter the occasion. He took us by surprise asking if the session we were in could be interrupted for a moment so he could be baptized for the remission of his sins. Since the answer was affirmative, he continued and we rephrase; “Well let’s stop the lesson for a moment because I need to be baptized. I have learned more about Jesus Christ and his sacrifice for me in this past three weeks than all I learned in my entire life. I want to give my life to the Lord.”

As you can imagine, we stopped the lesson right there and proceeded to baptize Marco. Omar Corpus performed the baptism with 12 of us that gathered around as witnesses. What a glorious moment!

This past Sunday Marco was born again and together with Norma, a long time Christian who reconciled and rejoined the body the same day. Our little congregation is starting to consolidate itself and the Kingdom of Christ continues growing in Arlington Texas. Praise the Lord for Marco and Norma!

As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?” And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him.” Acts8:36-38 NVI
