“Mi alma quedará satisfecha como de un suculento banquete, y con labios jubilosos te alabará mi boca.” Salmo 63:5 NVI

Una de las cosas que siempre me impresiona mucho es ver el comportamiento de aquellas personas que nos visitan por primera vez, especialmente su reacción a la hora de cantar.

Este pasado domingo llegó una joven señora, quien fue recibida por varios hermanos. Como acostumbramos, le ofrecimos una Biblia junto con la tarjeta de información. Mientras se sentaba en la banca, aceptó la tarjeta pero no la Biblia. Al ver el rostro de desconcierto de la persona que se la ofrecía, ella abrió su bolsa y dijo: “Gracias, pero ya tengo la mía.” Ella llegó preparada para adorar. Esta visitante, a quien llamaré Rosa, se sentó con mucha reverencia, y a la hora de cantar, a pesar de no conocer los himnos abrió su boca con confianza y trató de seguir los versos y la melodía uniendo su voz al resto de la congregación. ¡Qué bonito era ver su rostro mientras que con una sonrisa, entonaba alabanzas desconocidas a Dios!

La verdad es que cuando una persona está determinada a buscar acercarse a Dios,  buscará la manera de hacerlo sin importar su conocimiento o ignorancia. Esa persona lo hará con todo el corazón y se esforzará en darle a Él lo mejor. Seamos nosotros también como Rosa.   —por Jesus  Rodriguez

One thing that always impresses me is to watch the behavior of the people who visit us the first time. Especially when it’s singing time.

Last Sunday we had a young lady visiting. It was her first time with us. As usual, several members greeted her. We have the custom of offering a Bible along with the information card. When one of our members offered her a Bible, she refused. Seeing the member’s troubled face she immediately opened her purse and said; “Thank you but I have one already.” She came prepared for worship! This young lady, whom I will call “Rosa,” took her seat on one of the pews with great reverence, and at the time of the singing, even without previously knowing the songs, opened her lips with confidence and started following the melody and reading the words, joining her voice to the rest of the congregation. What a beautiful sight it was to see her smiling face as she praised and worshiped God with us using unknown songs to her!

The truth is, when a person is determined to get close to the Lord, he or she will do it no matter the amount of knowledge. That person will seek God with all their heart and giving the best of himself or herself. Let us all be like Rosa. —by Jesus Rodriguez
